Two new books by Erik Lorentzen (The Elvis Files) and Pål Granlund (Fashion) are in the making: 'Jailhouse Rock: Frame By Frame' and 'King Creole: Frame By Frame'. "Norway may famously be the home of giants, but it’s fast gaining a reputation as the home of gargantuan books on The King.

The two men who deserve all the credit for this are well-known Elvis fans and long-standing buddies, Erik Lorentzen and Pål Granlund. After working together on the best-selling Elvis: The King Of Las Vegas (Flaming Star, Oslo, 2009), Erik and Pål have reunited to offer collectors two essential books on Jailhouse Rock and King Creole, The King’s best and most dramatic movies.

Both volumes will be released in hardback on 8th January 2012 as the first parts of an exciting new series called Elvis Presley In Hollywood. They will each contain more than 400 pages and, alongside text written by Mike Eder, many hundreds of stunning, previously unpublished photographs that have been carefully selected by Erik and Pål from their extensive private collections. You can pre-order both right now here on The Elvis Files.

THIS REALLY IS A BOOK FIT FOR A KING

Erik, hello!  Oh, my what a treasure you've sent me!   A splendid job.

It’s amazing so much information with never before seen photos... I'm speechless.  Elvis would be, too, I thinks. I will cherish this.

Erik, again, thank you.  With lots of hugs and love.

Elvis Files Vol 5

Piers Beagley

This is a labour of love for Norwegian Erik Lorentzen, author and long time Elvis fan, who has found a ton of images and information never before published.

EIN's Piers Beagley checks out just how well this book represents Elvis' return to splendour.

The seven Elvis Files volumes are a very ambitious project by Erik Lorentzen that will carefully document almost every single day of Elvis' life from 1953 to 1977, covering everything from what he wore on stage, to who he met, rare interviews, candid photos and newly discovered images.

Erik Lorentzen is also the author of the critical acclaimed book 'Elvis - The King Of Las Vegas' and there is no doubt that this stunning seven-volume series is truly unlike any Elvis book series that you have seen before. The forth volume covers the two years 1969–1970, is 580 pages, hard-backed and printed on high quality paper.

Elvis Files Vol Three

EIN | Piers Beagley

In publishing the book Lorentzen has also used a large number of well-known contributors including Rex Martin, Trevor Cajiao (Elvis the Man & His Music), Chris Giles, Patrick Janssen (Elvis Presley Images), Pal Granlund (‘Flaming Star’ fan club & many books) and Joe Pirzada just to name a few. It is an impressive list of acknowledgments.

The first book published in the six part series is surprisingly Volume 3 – I guess due to the fact that this is a lesser-explored area of Elvis’ work in photo books! (Next issue I am told will be Volume 2)

Elvis Files Vol Two

NOW DIG THIS | Gordon Minto

Quality costs, but is usually worth it. This principle is amply illustrated by the second volume of The Elvis Files. Those of you familiar with the first volume released last year (which covered the 1960-64 period) will know that unlike most books about Elvis (and the number is incalculable), this is a book worthy of serious consideration, though weighing in a almost 3.5 kg and running well in excess of 500 pages, it is neither for the physically weak nor the faint-hearted. And when I say it is coffee-table size, I mean that almost literally!

As mentioned, very few of the innumerable Elvis books are worth a toss. Overall, Elvis has not been well-served by those who chose to write about him......

About the Author..Erik Lorentzen

Erik saw Elvis in concert many times throughout the 70`s. The first time was in New York at Madison Square Garden (1972). The following year, ('73) he got to meet his hero backstage at Nassau Coliseum, together with Pål Granlund, Per Granberg, Yngvar Holm, and Kari Lundstedt. In 1975 Erik meet Elvis in Vegas with Pål Ganlund. In 1976 Erik saw his hero many times. Both whilst On Tour and during his Vegas engagements.
